The forecast for the week is looking very good with wind all week, today was very light winds in the morning building to 20 knots, so when I checked Landguard live wind just before nine there was only 2 mph so I got up and drove down to Felixstowe Ferry to take some weather pics. The sea was amazing, mirror flat but there was lots going on with stand up paddle boarders, open water swimmers, people setting up on the beach for the day and lots of boat action out to sea including the Harwich Ferry, several yachts and even an old barge. I parked at the Ferry and there was several camping on Millenium green with loads of youngsters setting up their dinghies with several boats with racing bouys ready for a days racing when the wind arrived, I checked online later and it’s the National 12,s Nataional, they could be in for some good racing! Then home for breakfast and do my exercises in the sunny back garden while Mag plants up her new large board which is beginning to take shape:) The wind suddenly picked up but with high water at midday I gave it some time to drop, we had a brief visit from Maec=va who had been shooping with her mum then her dad dropped them off at The Manor for a picnic on the beach:) I then headed down to The Dip arriving just before two hoping to sail out to see the dinghies racing off Bawdsey beach but they had set a big course with a bouy down at the Fludyers so the boats were rather stung out! Robert arrived just before me so I didn’t even have to open the gate! There was loads of wind and enough beach to rig up on so after setting up my foil board I rigged 5.2 which proved pretty much perfect for this afternoons session. I was joined on the water by one more foiler, three on fins, a couple of wingers and four kiters later! I was first out into the ssw wind and was flying straight off the beach and after a few runs I started the beat down the coast, a little slow going as it was wind with tide, the sea was fairly lumpy but no problem flying above the lumps, so much better on my poor old knees! Sea gybing is coming along and I didn’t fall in once, always a plus:) I ended up just past the pier and turned for a long broad reach back, a tad under again but still loads of fun and quickly returned to The Dip where I had a few more runs before heading ashore and heading for home, another top open sea session, not sure about tomorrow, I would like to get my sailing done in the morning as we usually see an old friend on Tuesday afternoon so might head to Levington first thing if windy enough, might also be a tad offshore?
